Online Consultations

Online psychological treatment is available for clients who meet the assessment criteria. This method of treatment is ideal for people who are not able to attend face-to-face sessions.   This can include using Skype, FaceTime (Apple products only) or Zoom Meetings (both Apple and Windows).

Some benefits of online treatment are:

  • Allows time poor business people to access psychological services

  • For privacy reasons you prefer not to speak with a psychological face-to-face

  • Maintains confidentiality in small communities

  • Non-threatening for young people who are computer savvy

All our psychologists are accredited with AHPRA (the governing body for psychologists in Australia) and are experienced, caring professionals. Our system allows you to connect with them in a safe and private online environment. Anything you share is confidential*.

Customer Service

It's affordable

You may be eligible to access this service and receive a Medicare rebate. To be eligible to receive psychological services under Medicare, a person must be referred by his or her GP and in some instances by another medical specialist. Speak to your GP about your eligibility to claim these Medicare benefits and the best person to make your referral. If you have a valid mental health care plan then you will be eligible for a Medicare rebate for 10 sessions per calendar year.

You are also able to access this service without a referral, simply call to discuss or organise a session time. Online sessions are payable prior to the commencement of treatment and you may not be able to claim a rebate without a referral.

Please note as of 1st of November 2017 Medicare rebate for online (eHealth) psychological sessions will be available for people living in remote regions of Australia.

It's convenient

Have therapy at your own time and at your own pace. Schedule sessions with your clinician as often as you want and whenever you feel it's needed. Help is available at your pace and in an environment that you feel comfortable with.

At Birch Tree Psychology we link in with 'This Way Up' which enables clinicians to customise treatment to best suit an online forum and to allow clients to take ownership of the speed of their work. This Way Up provides additional resources that clients can complete in their own time and allows for real time reporting back to your clinician.

*Limits to confidentiality exist e.g. if you are at significant risk of harm to yourself or someone else.
